Missionby matt
Our mission is to provide an opportunity for both engineers and hobbyists to practice a wide variety of engineering, teamwork, and leadership skills, helping them develop necessary expertise as they move into the workforce while simultaneously sharing their passion for robotics with their community in an effort to inspire society to come to appreciate technology in the same way.
Club Descriptionby matt
iRobotics is a competition-oriented, student-lead college robotics club that not only competes in a variety of collegiate robotics competitions, but is also interested in spreading the word of science and technology to the community. Student leadership, organization, and time management are demonstrated in this club as we divide work and create schedules to finish projects on time. Mechanical, Electrical, and Software sub-teams each area work on their own tasks as well as communicating with the rest of the team. In addition, all club members are expected to participate in community outreach events, including mentoring, volunteering, judging, and demonstrating. This organization aims to be a well-represented group of students who not only wish to hone their own engineering skills, but also reach out to the local community as they spread their excitement for science and technology to society.
Calendar
JSDC Midterminators
The Midterminators started in 2010 as the Engineering Freshman Committee (EFC) Engineering Open House (EOH) Robotics team, receiving a grant to build a robot to compete in the Jerry Sanders Creative Design Competition (JSDC). In their first year, they competed and finished as the highest ranked UIUC team, ranking 2nd overall after the qualifying rounds. They continued into the finals where an unfortunate electrical failure caused the robot to break down, and the team finished fourth. After this exciting season, the team decided to continue together, and thus founded iRobotics.
The Midterminators competed again in 2011, this time ranking 4th overall after qualifying rounds. They made it to the finals, where after an action-packed match, they finished 3rd.
This year, the team has high aspirations to make another solid run at their first JSDC title.

JSDC Brobots
The Brobots started in 2011 as the EFC EOH Robotics team, competing in the Jerry Sanders Creative Design Competition for the first time in March 2012. They had a solid run and made it to the quarter finals before getting eliminated. The team decided to join iRobotics after their year with EFC so that they could continue to improve and make even stronger performance as JSDC in the coming years.

VEX Cyber Chiefs
The Cyber Chiefs started in Fall 2011 to compete in the VEX Robotics Collegiate Challenge (VRCC). They were able to learn a lot about the VEX Robotics system, and they even had the opportunity to travel to Anaheim, CA, in April 2012 to participate in the VEX Robotics World Championship, competing against teams from countries around the world, including Mexico, Puerto Rico, China, and more. After meeting teams at Purdue and MSU, the team plans on working with these schools to spread VEX to the rest of the Big 10.
The Cyber Chiefs are excited to get to work this fall with their new Raspberry Pi board and implement computer vision into the autonomous mode on their robots this year, among other new features. With new connections and new knowledge, the team is looking to have a strong season.
